My personal “Self-Care Toolbox” is an actual physical book — a journal, filled with the tools I need when I’m spinning out of orbit and need something to ground me and gently remind me of how I can help myself. It includes:
- reminders of what to do when I feel overwhelmed
- reasons I don’t suck (for really bad days) — this is something to do when you’re in a good mindset — it’s also helpful to ask a loved one for assistance in compiling these “reasons.”
- a list of people I love and who love me
- a “Reverse Bucket List“
- Poems that comfort and inspire
- feel-good song lyrics/playlist
- quotes that remind me of what I know to be true
